Math: Data Management Review

Students continued reviewing and analyzing different types of graphs, and how to count and write tally marks.

During circle time, students were asked to count the tally marks on the board and print the number.

After, we conducted a survey to find out what is the most favorite winter activity. Students came up to the board and put a tally mark beside their favorite activity.

After, we used the tally marks to make a bar graph.

After, students did their own bar graph to find out what everyone wears on their hands during winter (i.e, gloves or mittens) Students conducted their surveys by asking their peers. After, students came back to the carpet and shared their findings with the class.

Unit of Inquiry: Sensational Senses

Today, students reviewed their summative presentations. After, we looked at different books about the five senses. Students wanted to explore their sense of smell, so we read about how our noses work and help us to smell things. After, we made a list of things that have good/bad smells.

After, as a class we reviewed the spelling words for the test tomorrow.

Year Ahead Day

SJA is excited to announce that Year Ahead Day is happening again this year!  All SJA PYP students will be participating in this exciting event on Tuesday,December 5th.   Year Ahead Day is a fun and interactive day for the students at SJA to spend a day in the class of the grade level ahead of them (example: SK students spend their day as Grade 1 students in a Grade 1 class, Grade 6 students spend their day as Grade 7 students, etc.).
This is a great way for the students at SJA to get a glimpse into their future life at SJA!  Students can get to know the teachers, see their future classroom, and take part in activities they will be participating in next year.
