Happy Birthday, Kai!
This morning we celebrated Kai's birthday!

Music with Ms. Hayward

After music, students started to practice for the Christmas concert. Students are learning to do the actions for the song as well as memorize the lyrics to the song Jingle Bells.

Phonics
Students are starting to review long and short vowel sounds. Today we focused on the long and short sound for the letter Aa.
We brainstormed words that have the short and long sound

After, students worked in literacy stations and practiced writing, reading and creating words and letters out of playdough.

Gym with Mrs. Jans

Math: We are continuing learning about graphs and how to sort objects based on their attributes.
Students looked at a picture in the Big math book and came up with ways on how to sort the animals in the picture.

Some students suggested we group the animals based on their color. Some said we should organize them based on how many legs they have.

After, students were placed into groups and had to guess what my sorting rule was.

After, students discovered tally marks and how to make them. Students know that tally marks help us count objects.

We did tally graphs together as a class. After, students worked in their workbooks and created tally graphs based on if people have pets. Students went around the classroom and asked their peers if they have a pet at home.

We counted how many boys/girls there are in the class.

After, students did their own tally graphs in their workbook.

After, students wanted to find out what pet is the most favorite (dog or cat)
